3、y-positiveandantibody-negativecats.,Coronaviruseshavebeenfoundinalargenumberofmammalsandbirds,includingmouse,rat,eat,dog,pig,cattle,human,chicken,andturkey(2i).Furthermore,eoronavirus-likeparticleshavebeenisolatedfromhorse(1),mon-key(2),rabbit(7),petbirds(K.ttInAI,persona
4、lcommunication),fish(K.E.WOLF,personalcommunication),andticks(20).Felineinfectiousperitonitis(FIP)whichiscausedbyavirusofCoronaviridaefamily,isoneofthemostimportantcontagiousdiseasesaffectingdomesticandwildFelidaetoday(4,9,10,15,19,23).Duringstudiesonthepathogenesisandtra
5、nsmissionofFIPvirusviatheoralroute,fecalsamplesofelinicMlynormaleatswerescreenedforeoronaviruses.Herewereportthefindingsofeoronavirus-likeparticlesinthefecesofthesenormalcats.Fecalsampleswerecollectedfromeatswhichwereobtainedfromtwocat-teriesmaintainedasminimaldiseasecat(
6、MDC)breedingcolonies.ThecatswerehousedinstandardHorsfallisolationcages.A10percentto20percentsuspensionofeachfecalsamplewasmadeusingEagle'sminimumessentialmediumwith200unitsPenicillin/ml,200~zgStreptomyein/ml,100fzgGentamicin/ml,andnoserum.Aftercentrifugationat3,000rpm(1,2
