1、CAC/RCP3Page1of8RECOMMENDEDINTERNATIONALCODEOFHYGIENICPRACTICEFORDRIEDFRUITS(CAC/RCP3-1969)SECTIONI-SCOPEThiscodeofpracticeappliestoallfruitsthathavebeendriedbynaturalorartificialmeansoracombinationofboth.Thefruitisdriedtotheextentthatthegreaterpartofthemoisturehasbeen
2、removed,andinadditionthefruitmaybesubjectedtoasafeandappropriatetreatmentinpreparationandpacking,topermitmarketinginnormaltradechannels.Fruitscoveredbythiscodeincludeapples,apricots,peaches,pears,nectarines,prunes,figs,dates,andvinefruitssuchasraisinsandcurrants.Fruits
3、otherthanvinefruitspriortodrying,ifdesired,andapplicablefortheparticularfruit,maybecored,orpitted,sliced,diced,quartered,halved,orotherwisesubdivided.Thiscodedoesnotapplytofruitscommonlyknownas"dehydratedfruits"withamoisturecontentnotexceeding5%.SECTIONII-DEFINITIONSNo
4、neconsiderednecessaryforthiscodeofpractice.SECTIONIII-RAWMATERIALREQUIREMENTSA.EnvironmentalSanitationinGrowingandFoodProductionAreas(1)Sanitarydisposalofhumanandanimalwastes.Adequateprecautionshouldbetakentoensurethathumanandanimalwastesaredisposedofinsuchamannerasnot
5、toconstituteapublichealthorhygienichazardandextremecareshouldbetakentoprotectthefruitfromcontaminationwiththesewastes.(2)Sanitaryqualityofirrigationwater.Waterusedforirrigationshouldnotconstituteapublichealthhazardtotheconsumerthroughthefruit.(3)Animal,plantpestanddise
6、asecontrol.Growingareasshouldbekeptfreefromrottenordecomposingfruitthatisattractivetoinsects,rodentsandbirds.Wherecontrolmeasuresareundertaken,treatmentwithchemical,biologicalorphysicalagentsshouldbedoneonlyinaccordancewiththerecommendationsoftheappropriateofficialagen
7、cy,byorunderthedirectsupervisionofpersonnelwithathoroughunderstandingofthehazardsinvolved,includingthepossibilityoftoxicresiduesbeingretainedbythefruit.B.SanitaryHarvestingandFoodProduction(1)Equipmentandproductcontainers.Equipmentandproductcontainersshouldnotconstitut
