5、productioninanymedium,providedtheoriginalworkisproperlycited.Celiacdisease(CD)isanimmune-mediatedenteropathy,triggeredbydietarywheatglutenandsimilarproteinsofbarleyandryeingeneticallysusceptibleindividuals.Theetiologyofthisdisorderiscomplex,involvingboth
6、environmentalandgeneticfactors.ThemajorgeneticriskfactorforCDisrepresentedbyHLA-DQgenes,whichaccountforapproximately40%ofthegeneticrisk;however,onlyasmallpercentageofcarriersdevelopthedisease.Glutenisthemainenvironmentalfactorresponsibleforthesignsandsym
7、ptomsofthedisease,butexposuretoglutendoesnotfullyexplainthemanifestationofCD.Epidemiologicalandclinicaldatasuggestthatenvironmentalfactorsotherthanglutenmightplayaroleindiseasedevelopment,includingearlyfeedingpractices(e.g.,breastmilkversusformulaanddura
