3、sedsubjectshavebeenlinkedtoadiposity,type2diabetesanddyslipidemia.Promotionofanincreasedexpressionofintestinalnutrienttransportersoramodifiedlipidandbileacidmetabolismbytheintestinalmicrobiotacouldresultinanincreasednutrientabsorptionbythehost.Thedegradationofdietaryfiberandthesubsequentfe

4、rmentationofmonosaccharidestoshort-chainfattyacids(SCFA)isoneofthemostcontroversiallydiscussedmechanismsofhowgutbacteriaimpacthostphysiology.Fibersreducetheenergydensityofthediet,andtheresultingSCFApromoteintestinalgluconeogenesis,incretinformationandsubsequentlysatiety.However,SCFAalsod

5、eliverenergytothehostandsupportliponeogenesis.Thusfar,thereislittleknowledgeonbacterialspeciesthatpromoteorpreventmetabolicdisease.ClostridiumramosumandEnterococcuscloacaeweredemonstratedtopromoteobesityingnotobioticmousemodels,whereasbifidobacteriaandAkkermansiamuciniphilawereassociatedw

6、ithfavorablephenotypesinconventionalmice,especiallywhenoligofructosewasfed.Howdietmodulatesthegutmicrobiotatowardsabeneficialorharmfulcompositionneedsfurtherresearch.Gnotobioticanimalsareavaluabletooltoelucidatemechanismsunderlyingdiet–host–microbeinteractions.Keywords:intestinalmicrobiot
