5、yjn.nutrition.orgpreventthedevelopmentofsomediseaseslaterinadultlife.EarlierresearchsuggestedthattermfetusesaresterileandthattheinitialbacterialcolonizationofthenewbornGIToccursonlyafterthebabytransitsthroughthebirthcanal.However,recentstudieshavedemonstratedthatthecolonizationand/orcontact
6、ofthefetuswiththematernalGITmicrobiotamaystartinutero.Aftervaginalbirth,thecolonizationoftheneonateGITcontinuesthroughcontactwithbyguestonApril1,2014maternalfecesandvaginalbacteria,leadingtoarelativelysimplemicrobialcommunitythatisinfluencedbyfeedingtype(breastvs.formulafeeding).MaternalGITm
7、icrobiota,vaginalmicrobiota,andbreastmilkcompositionareinfluencedbymaternaldiet.AlterationsofthematernalGITmicrobiotacompositionviasupplementationwithprobioticsandprebioticshavebeenshown;however,transferofthesebenefitstotheoffspringremainstobedemonstrated.
