5、creasingcross-culturalcommunication,approachestothecomprehensionandtranslationofEnglishidiomsareurgentlyneeded.AnappropriatetranslationofEnglishidiomsplaysasignificantroleinthemorefrequentcross-culturalcommunication.Throughexpoundingtheorigins,characteristics,translationprincip
6、lesandmethodsofEnglishidioms,thethesisaimstohelpEnglishlearnershaveabetterunderstandingofWesternculturesanddeveloptheirabilitiesofEnglishidiomtranslationbylistingmanylivelyexamples.Thethesisisdividedintofiveparts.Thefirstthreepartsdealwiththedefinition,originsandcharacteristics
