3、groupsofnormalcontrol(CON)anddiabetesmellitus(DM).Diabeteswasinducedbystreptozotocin(STZ)intraperitonealinjection.Geneexpressionwasdetectedquantitativelywithreal-timefluorescencequantitativereversetranscriptionpolymerasechainreaction(QRT-PCR).RESULTS:

4、ThemRNAlevelofT¦ÂR1andT¦ÂR2was0.000493¡À0.000133and0.000166¡À0.000057at4wk.ThemRNAlevelofT¦ÂR1andT¦ÂR2was0.000608¡À0.000232and0.000113¡À0.000049at12wk.T¦ÂR141expressionwasgraduallyelevatedduringtheprogressionofdiabeticretinopathy,T¦ÂR2expressionwasup-

5、regulatedat4wk,butdown-regulatedat12wk.CONCLUSION:TGF-¦Âanditsreceptors(T¦ÂR1andT¦ÂR2)mayplayimportantroleinthepathogenesisofdiabeticretinopathy.¡¾¹Ø¼ü´Ê¡¿diabeticretinopathyINTRODUCTIONDiabeticretinopathy(DR)isthemaincomplicationofdiabetesmellitus(DM

6、),andisoneofthemostleadingcausesofblindnessworld-wide.DRisaprogressivemicroangiopathycharacterizedbysmallvesseldamageandocclusion.Theearliestpathologicchangesarethickeningofthecapillaryendothelialbasementmembraneandreductionofpericytes.Withtheprogress

7、ivemicrovasculardamage,proliferativediabeticretinopathy(PDR)develops.Neovasculariza-tionisthemainpathologicchangesofPDR.ButthepathogenesisofDRisstillnotfullyunderstood.RecentstudiesshowthatcytokinesareinvolvedinthepathogenesisofDRingeneral.14Transform
