3、4.3kbstartingat8.2kbfromthe3'endofthegenomewasidentified.Itsdeducedaminoacidsequencecontainsthecharacteristicfeaturesofacoronaviruspeplomerprotein:(i)theprecursorpolypeptideofTGEVE2is1447residueslong(i.e.285longerthantheavianinfectiousbronchitiscoronavirusspikeprotein);(ii)partialN-te
4、rminalsequencingdemonstratedthataputativesecretorysignalsequenceof16aminoacidsisabsentinthevirion-associatedprotein;(iii)thepredictedmol.wt.oftheapoproteinis158K;mostofthe32potentialN-glycosylationsitesavailableinthesequencearepresumedtobefunctionaltoaccountforthedifferencebetweenthis

7、e,murinehepatitis(MH)andavianinfectiousbronchitis(IB)viruses(seeLaudeetal.,1987).ThreefunctionalclassesofpolypeptideshavebeenidentifiedinTGEVvirions:anucleocapsidprotein,amatrixproteinandapeplomerproteinformingthecharacteristicsurfaceprojections(Garwesetal.,1976).ThepeplomerproteinE2,
