4、bablyrepresentsthemembraneanchor.Twentyglycosylationsitesarepredicted.CleavageoftheE2proteinresultsintwodifferent90Kspecies,90Aand906(L.S.Sturman,C.S.Ricard,andK.V.Holmes(1985)1.Viral56,904-91l),andactivatescellfusion.Proteinsequencingofthetrypsin-generatedN-termin
5、usrevealedthepositionofthecleavagesite.90Aand90BcouldbeidentifiedastheC-terminalandtheN-terminalparts,respectively.AminoacidsequencecomparisonoftheA59andJHME2proteinsshowedextensivehomoloav-_andrevealedastretchof89aminoacidsinthe9OBregionoftheA59E2proteinthatisabse

7、ticcleavageofthe180Kprotein(Sturmanetal.,andencephalomyelitisinthenaturalhost(Wegeeta/.,1985).Thiscleavageactivatescellfusion,andtheratio1982).Theyarestudiedextensively,sinceMHVisaof180Kto90Kproteinsishostdependent(Sturmanetusefulanimalmodelforvirus-induceddemyelin
