3、entrewillprovidea‘singlewindowprocess’tohelpconnectadults(18+)withdisabilitiestotheresourcesandsupportstheyneedfromgovernment,not-for-profitandprivatesectororganizations.Personalsupportsaredefinedasgoodsandservicesthatassistthoselivingwithdisabilitiestoparticipateindailyliving,andforthisprojectth
4、ePersonalSupportsCentre(PSC)willfocusonequipmentandassistivedevicesrequests.ThevaluesofthePSCarechoice,inclusiveness,accessibleandrespectful,anditsprinciplesaretobecitizen-centered,flexibleandresponsive,comprehensive,effectiveandsustainable,accountableandintegrated.(Continuedonpage2)Volume13,Issu
5、e2Page19(Continuedfrompage1)Assistanceisguidedbytheindividualneedingpersonalsupports,basedonhis/hergoals.Asanindividual’sneedschange,thePSCwillprovideongoingsupportifneeded.Thisserviceistosupportandenhance,notreplacetheindividual’seffortstomanagetheirlife.Thisinnovativedemonstrationprojectdevelop
6、edoutofapartnershipoftheBCprovincialgovernment,ledbytheMinistryofEmploymentandIncomeAssistance,andthecommunityofdisabilityorganizationsandindividualswithdisabilitiesworkingtogether.TheVictoriaDisabilityResourceCentre,ablyledbyExecutiveDirector,MikeHanson,becameinvolvedwiththisprocessin2007,andthe
7、PSCbecamethefirstdemonstrationsitetobelaunched.Othersites,bothphysicalandvirtual,areplannedtoopenacrosstheprovince.TheimpetusforcreatingthisdemonstrationprojectwasthatunlikeotherprovincesinCanada,BCcurrentlyhasnouniver
