3、ineselanguageandculturecharacteristics．MainlybasedonLakoff’SConceptualMetaphorTheory,thisthesisstudiesChineseanimalbodypartmetaphorsbystatisticalanalysis．First，theauthorbuildsacorpusofanimalbodypartmetaphors，taking26kindsofanimalswiththeir99bodypartsmappedonto286differententitie

4、sastheresearchsubjectinordertocoverthelargestscopeofanimalbodypartsmetaphors．Thenclassificationsaremadeoftheseanimalbodypartmetaphorsaccordingtothefeaturesofthetargetdomain·Theresearchfindsoutthatnearlyallanimalbodypartsserveassourcedomaintobemappedontootherdomains，expressingcon

5、ceptsofeitherconcI．eteornon．concreteentities．Thedataanalysisshowsthattherearebigdifferenceinthepercentageofmappingsofeachanimalandtheirbodyparts．Theconceptsunderstoodintermsofanimalbodypartsarealsounevenintheirpercentages．Domesticanimalsthathaveacloserelationshipwithhumanbeingsa

6、refrequentlymapped，forexample，theOX，dogandchickenhavemorebodypartmetaphors．Amongthewildanimalstigerhasthethirdlargestnumberofbodypartmetaphors．Ofallthebodyparts，theexternalonesaremoreoftenmappedassourcedomainthaninternalorgans，suchasanimalhead，tail，skin，feather'eyesandmouth．Thes
