3、sasabasisforstraindifferentiationrelatedtotheclin-icalsourceoftheisolates.ThefiveWD-associatedBCVisolatesstudiedcouldbedistinguishedfrompastNCD-isolatesbytheirhemagglutinating(HA)prop-ertiesat4and37C,theirreceptor-destroyingenzyme(RDE)activitieswithraterythrocytesandlacko
4、freactivityoftheseNCDisolatestofourHAinhibiting(HAI)monoclonalantibodies(MAbs)directedagainsttheHEglycoproteinofthereferenceWD-associatedBCQ.2590Quebecstrain.Althoughminorornodif-ferencescouldbedemonstratedbycomparingbiologicalpropertiesoftheHEofWD-isolatestothoseofrecentN

6、unrelatedtotheclinicaloriginoftheisolatesorHAIMAbreactivities.*Bovinecoronavirus(BCV)isanimportantenteropathogenicagentofthebovinespecieswhichreplicatesinthematureenterocytesofthesmallintestineandcolon,causingseverediarrhoeainneonatalcalves(NCD)[11,16,27]andchronicshedding
