3、yCoronavirusesantigeneticallyrelatedtobovinecoronavirusesandhumancoronavirusstrainOC43weredetectedinfecalsamplesfromtwoprimates(moormacaqueandachimpanzee)byelectron-microscopyandELISA.ThisELISAisspecificforcoronavirusesbelongingtotheantigenicgroup2.Attemptstopropagatetheprimatecoronavir
4、usesincellcultureorsucklingmousebrainfailed.Keywords:Coronavirus,primates,ELISA,antigenicrelationshipCoronaviruseshavebeenisolatedfromavarietyofmammalianandavianspecies.Theyareknowntohavepathogenicpotentialandoneofthediseaseentitiescausedbythesevirusesisdiarrheaasobservedincalves,piglet
5、s,dogs,cats,horses,turkeysandotherspecies(WEGEetal.,1982).Mammaliancoronaviruseshavebeendividedintoatleasttwoantigenicgroups(PEDERSENetal.,1978).Porcineepidemicdiarrheavirus(PEDV)isantigenicallyunrelatedtothesegroups.Additionally,coronavirus-likeparticleshavebeendemonstratedindiarrheals
6、toolsamplesfromhumans(CAULetal.,1975;BATTAGLIAetal.,1987).Thereareonlyafewreportsonthepropagationoftheseparticlesinorganculturesorcelllines(CAULandEGGLESTONE,1977;LADORTEandBOBULESCO,1981).Polypeptidesofparticulespurifiedfromstoolshavebeenshowntoberelatedtopolypeptidesofthehumancoronavi
7、russtrainOC-43(BATTAGLIAetal.,1987)indicatingthattheyaremembersofthefamilycoronaviridaeandrelatedtohumanrespiratorycoronaviruses.Inprimatespeciesentericcoronavirus-likeparticleshavebeendetectedbyelectronmicro-scopy(CAULandEGGLESTONE,1979;SMITHetal.,1982),butnoattempthasbeenmade
