3、ess．Xixiangjiisconsidered部themostoutstandingdramainYuanDynastyinChina．Itattractsincreasingnumberofscholarsandtranslatorsfromallovertheworldtostudyandtranslateit．Ithasbeentranslatedintodifferentlanguages，suchaLsEnglish，French，andJapaneseandSOon．AmongdifferentEnglishversionsof

4、thisdrama，RomanceoftheWesternBowertranslatedbyXuYuanzhongandTheStoryofWestWingtranslatedbyStephenH．WestandWiltL．Idemaearnagoodreputationandarediscussedbydifferentscholars．InlightofdifferencesofthetwoEnglishrenditions，thisthesisisintendedtodiscussthemanifestationofthetranslat

5、or’SsubjectivitybyacomparativelydetailedanalysisofthetworenditionsofXixiangji，andthenexplorethereasonsforthedifferencesfromtheperspectiveofthetranslator’Ssubjectivity．ThisthesisbeginswithabriefintroductiontothebasicinformationaboutXixiangjianditsauthorshipandEnglishtranslati

6、ons，theresearchbackground，theobjectiveoftheresearchaswellasthestructureofthethesis．Then，itgivesageneralreviewofthecurrentstudiesofthetranslator’Ssubjectivitybothathomeandabroad．Basedontheliteraturereview,itfurtherexplainsthedefinitionsandpresenttheoriesrelatedtothetranslator
