2、ndelectronsgeneratedfrommachinesources.Theirradiationfacilitymaybeoftwodesigns,either"continuous"or"batch"type.Controlofthefoodirradiationprocessinalltypesoffacilityinvolvestheuseofacceptedmethodsofmeasuringtheabsorbedradiationdoseandofthemonitoringofthephysicalparameterso

3、ftheprocess.TheoperationofthesefacilitiesfortheirradiationoffoodmustcomplywiththeCodexrecommendationsonfoodhygiene.2.IRRADIATIONPLANTS2.1ParametersForalltypesoffacilitythedosesabsorbedbytheproductdependontheradiationparameter,thedwelltimeorthetransportationspeedoftheproduc

4、t,andthebulkdensityofthematerialtobeirradiated.Source-productgeometry,especiallydistanceoftheproductfromthesourceandmeasurestoincreasetheefficiencyofradiationutilization,willinfluencetheabsorbeddoseandthehomogeneityofdosedistribution.2.1.1RadionuclidesourcesRadionuclidesus

5、edforfoodirradiationemitphotonsofcharacteristicenergies.Thestatementofthesourcematerialcompletelydeterminesthepenetrationoftheemittedradiation.ThesourceactivityismeasuredinBecquerel(Bq)andshouldbestatedbythesupplyingorganization.Theactualactivityofthesource(aswellasanyretu

6、rnorreplenishmentofradionuclidematerial)shallberecorded.Therecordedactivityshouldtakeintoaccountthenaturaldecayrateofthesourceandshouldbeaccompaniedbyarecordofthedateofmeasurementorrecalculation.Radionuclideirradiatorswillusuallyhaveawellseparatedandshieldeddepositoryforth

7、esourceelementsandatreatmentareawhichcanbeenteredwhenthesourceisinthesafeposition.Thereshouldbeapositiveindicationofthecorrectoperationalandofthecorrectsafepositionofthesourcewhichshouldbeinterlockedwiththeproductmovementsystem.2.1.2MachinesourcesAbeamofelectronsgeneratedb
