3、ationtheoristshavemadelittlesystematicuseofthetechniquesandinsightsofcontemporaryTranslationStudies;linguistics.However,twopointsmustbeemphasized:(1)althoughtranslationhasexistedformanyCulturalstudiessocioculturalcenturies,itwasnotuntilthesecondhalfofthiscenturythat‘TranslationStudies’develo
4、pedintoacontext;disciplineinitsownright,and(2)althoughtranslationhastakenonconceptsandmethodsofotherTechnologicaladvances;disciplines,‘‘itisstillconceivedasasubdisciplineofappliedlinguistics’’(Schaffner,2004,p.2).OnNewareasofresearch;theotherhand,thepastfifteenyearsorsohaveseenthefocusoftrans
5、lationstudiesshiftawayfromIntersemiotictranslationlinguisticsandincreasinglytoformsofculturalstudies.TherehasalsobeenashifttowardsstudiesthathaveincorporatedmodelsfromfunctionallinguisticsandCriticalDiscourseAnalysis,locatingthetextwithinitssocioculturalcontext.Morerecently,technologicaladva
6、nces,whichhavetrans-formedtheworkingconditionsofprofessionaltranslatorsandresearchersandhavespawnednewformsoftranslation,havealsoproducednewareasofresearch,somelinkedtotheeffectsofglob-alizationandsometoformsofintersemiotictranslation.Thepresentstudy,therefore,attemptstooutlinethescopeofthed
