2、WesetupanoptimizationmodelbasedonQueuingTheoryandHydrodynamicsTheorytomakeresearchontheoptimalsettingnumberoftollboothsinatollplazaandtheopeningnumberofitindifferenthours.Inthemodel,thenumberoftollboothsisthedecisiveparameterandtheobjectivefunctionisthedelaytimeofavehiclepassingthr
3、oughthewholetollplaza.Thedelaytimecontainsthewaitingtimeforqueuingandthecongestiontime.Whenthetrafficflowgetstoolarge,weshouldsetmoretollboothstoreducethedelaytimeandupgradetheservicelevel.Ontheotherhand,ifwesettoomanytollbooths,thecongestionwouldbecomeseriousaftervehiclesleavethet
4、ollboothsandbeforedrivingonthetravellane,andthenthedelaytimewouldbeincreasingapparently.Soweconsiderthetwoaspectsintheoptimizationmodel.WealsodefinetheServiceLeveltoassesstheperformanceoftollbooths.Theresultofthemodelshowsthatthesettingtollboothscandealwiththeflowdemandofthepeaking
5、hourinnorthbounddirectionorsouthbounddirection,andthetrafficadministrationcanmakethedecisiontoopenthecorrespondingnumberoftollboothswiththeoptimalnumberoftollbooths.Weanalyzethesensitivityandstabilityoftheresulttosuchfactorsasvehiclearrivalintensity,averageservicerate,freevehicleve
6、locity,jamdensity.Thecriticalflowandaverageservicerateareconsideredtoanalyzethemoreorlesseffectivecondition,andtheresultofthemodelandcurrentpracticearecomparedintheend.IntroductionTodesigntheoptimaltollboothnumberforatollplaza,wesetupatwo-phasemodelbasedonqueuingtheoryandtrafficflo
7、wtheory.Inthefirstphase,weusetheM/M/cqueuingtheorytodescribetheprocessofthevehiclesgoingintotheplaza,payingservice,anddeterminethedelaytimeoftheprocess.Inthesecondphase,weutilizetrafficflowtheorytodiscussthetimespentoncongestionwhenvehiclesleavetollboothsbeforegoingontothenormalspe
