1、AbstractFromtheperspectiveofcultureandinthelightofNida’sfunctionalequivalencetheory,thisthesismakesacomparativestudyoftwoEnglishtranslationsbyShiXiaojingandEvanKingofLuotuoXiangzi,anovelbyLaoShe,whichisrichinlocalandculturalconnotations．Traditionally,translationisconsideredasanactivityoftransf

2、erencebegw髓'ntwolanguages．However,withtheincreaseofcommunicationandexchangeamongdifferentnations，itisrealizedthatthedifferenceoflanguagesisonlyoneofthebarriersincommunication．Infact,itisculturaldifferencesthatmainlyblockthecommunication．Translationisnotonlytransferencebetweenlanguages，butalsoi

3、nvolvesthetransferringoftheculturesthatareboundwiththelanguages．Sometranslationtheorists，suchasLambertandRobyns,believethattranslationisallactivityaboutexchangesbetweentwodifferentculturesratherthanthetransferencebetweentwolanguages．Astheschooloftranslationstudiesorcnlturalstudiespointsout,the

4、translationstudyhasbrokenthroughthebondageoftraditionalaestheticsandlinguisticssince1970’S．Andthe‘'culturetunr’hasplayedanimportantandinnovativeroleintransitionstudy．Theorganizationofthisthesisisasfollows：Chapteroneintroducesthebackgroundandsignificanceoftheresearchandelaboratesonthereasonofch
