2、udicialprocessmorecomprehensibletothegeneralpublic.ThismanualneithersupplantstheFloridaRulesofAppellateProcedurenorcreatesanysubstantiveorproceduralrights.TheCourtcontinuallyreviewsandimprovesinternalprocedures,andthemanualisrevisedfromtimetotimeasnewproced

3、uresareofficiallyadopted.ThelatestversionofthismanualisalwayspostedontheCourt’swebsiteathttp://www.floridasupremecourt.org/pub_info/documents/IOPs.pdf.SectionI.CourtStructure.A.CourtComposition.TheSupremeCourtofFloridaiscomposedofsevenjusticeswhoservetermso

4、fsixyears.Eachjustice,otherthanthechiefjustice,isauthorizedtoemploythreestaffattorneysandonejudicialassistant.Thestaffofthechiefjusticeincludesthreestaffattorneys,oneofwhommayserveasexecutiveassistanttothechiefjustice;fourjudicialassistants;aninspectorgener

5、alandstaff;areporterofdecisions;adirectorofthepublicinformationofficeandstaff;andacentralstaffofattorneys,oneofwhomservesasthedirectorofcentralstaff.InaccordancewithpasttraditionandinordertomaintainthecollegialityoftheCourt,itistheCourt’spolicythatthejustic

6、esresideintheTallahasseeareaandthateachjustice’sofficeandstaffbemaintainedintheSupremeCourtBuilding.Thispolicyshallnotbeconstruedasrequiringajustice’spermanentresidencetobeinLeonCountyforpurposesofhomesteadrequirements.Chambersforeachjustice,includingthechi

7、efjustice,arelocatedonthefourthflooroftheSupremeCourtBuilding.Membersofthepublic,includingattorneysadmittedtopracticeinFlorida,arenotpermittedonthefourthfloorunlesstheyhaveobtainedpermissionfromajustice.B.TheChiefJustice.Thechiefjusticeistheadministrativeof
