3、glishvocabularyteachingistheprimaryandessentialpartofEnglishteaching.Thisisbecausewecannotexpressanythingperfectwithoutvocabulary;wecannotcarryonthebasiclanguagecommunicationsuchaslistening,speaking,reading,writingandtranslationiftherehasnovocabulary.Weneedtohaveastoreofvocabulary,whichwecan
4、selectfromfreelywhenwewishtoexpressourthoughts.Forstudents,masteringacertainnumberofvocabulariesisthekeytolearningEnglish.Aseveryoneknows,thegreatervocabularyonemasters,thestrongerskillinapplyinglanguagehe/shewillhave.ButtoourChinesestudents,thevocabularylearningisagreatdifficultyinEnglishle
5、arning.Whatismore,manyofthestudentsalwaysconsiderthat“vocabularylearning”istorecitethewordswhichareappearedinthetext.Theythinkthatiftheycanrememberallthosewords,theywillfinishtheirvocabularylearning.Asamatteroffact,theirvocabularylearningstillstaysinthecombinationof“pronunciation,spellingand
6、meaning”,andalmostalltheirtimeandenergyareusedinthesethreeparts.Thiswillbringfailurestotheminlearningandcommunication.Thus,theteacher’svocabularyteachingbecomesespeciallyimportant.C.PurposeofteachingvocabularyThepurposeofteachingvocabularyistomakethestudentsmasterthevocabulary,usethevocabula
7、ryfreelyandlaythebasefortheirEnglishlearning.Inordertoachievethispurpose,educatorsfromhomeandabroadhavebeenresearchingtheapproachesofEnglishteaching.Nomatterwhatkindofapproachtheyadopt,theymustmakesurethattheirteachingisbasedonthestudents.Becauseth
