2、achindividualitembeenoneofthehottopicsinthediscussionandoperationof1institutionalrepositories(IRs).TheusabilityofanIRreliesforitsmetadataanddepositionstatus,the2primarilyontheamountofitscontentmaterial,whichbecomesresearchfoundthatadisciplinarycultureisnotavailablethroughself-archiv
3、ingofresearchoutcomesbyobviouslypresented.Rather,self-archivingisfacultyauthors.3ThemorefacultymemberscontributetoanregulatedbyaliaisonsystemandaIR,thelargeritscontentsizeis,andconsequentlythemoreusefultheIR.Whiledigitalrepositorieshavebeenadoptedbymandatepolicy.manyhighereducationa
4、linstitutionsaroundtheworld,facultycontributionstotheIRshavebeengenerallyscarce.Thereluctanceoffacultyforparticipatinginself-archivingis,amongotherreasons,becausefacultyscholarsareusuallytoobusytobedistractedfromtheiralreadyheavyloadinresearch4andteaching,althoughobservationsreveale
5、dthatdepositinganarticletoanIRdatabasetakesonlylessthantenminutesfora5newself-depositor.Facultyauthorsarealsoconcernedwithintellectualissuesforpre-printsandcopyrightissuesforpost-6prints.Mostimportantly,facultyfeeltheymaynotbenefitfromself-publishingresearchinadigitalrepositorygiven
6、therequirementsoftheircareerpromotionforwhichonlypeer-7reviewedpublications,mostlyinprintjournals,arevalued.Somefindingsbylibrarianssuggestedthatmovingpublicationsonlinewillcreatemoreopportunitiesforthemtobereadandcited,and,thus,willincreasethevisibilityoftheauthorsamongpeerswhichis
7、consideredimportantbyscholarsintheircareer8development.Suchfindingsare,unfortunately,notwidelyrecognizedanddonotrefertoIRsinparticular.Overall,facultyhavenotrecognizedtheadvantagesofIRsinincreasingtheirresearchimpact.“Whiledigitalrepositorieshavebeenadoptedbymanyhighereducationalins
