2、itembeenoneofthehottopicsinthediscussionandoperationof1institutionalrepositories(IRs).TheusabilityofanIRreliesforitsmetadataanddepositionstatus,the2primarilyontheamountofitscontentmaterial,whichbecomesresearchfoundthatadisciplinarycultureisnotavailablethroughself-archivingofresearchoutcomesbyobv
3、iouslypresented.Rather,self-archivingisfacultyauthors.3ThemorefacultymemberscontributetoanregulatedbyaliaisonsystemandaIR,thelargeritscontentsizeis,andconsequentlythemoreusefultheIR.Whiledigitalrepositorieshavebeenadoptedbymandatepolicy.manyhighereducationalinstitutionsaroundtheworld,facultycont
4、ributionstotheIRshavebeengenerallyscarce.Thereluctanceoffacultyforparticipatinginself-archivingis,amongotherreasons,becausefacultyscholarsareusuallytoobusytobedistractedfromtheiralreadyheavyloadinresearch4andteaching,althoughobservationsrevealedthatdepositinganarticletoanIRdatabasetakesonlylesst
5、hantenminutesfora5newself-depositor.Facultyauthorsarealsoconcernedwithintellectualissuesforpre-printsandcopyrightissuesforpost-6prints.Mostimportantly,facultyfeeltheymaynotbenefitfromself-publishingresearchinadigitalrepositorygiventherequirementsoftheircareerpromotionforwhichonlypeer-7reviewedpu
6、blications,mostlyinprintjournals,arevalued.Somefindingsbylibrarianssuggestedthatmovingpublicationsonlinewillcreatemoreopportunitiesforthemtobereadandcited,and,thus,willincreasethevisibilityoftheauthorsamongpeerswhichisconsideredimportantbyscholarsintheircareer8development.Suchfindingsare,unfortu
