2、rintervention–Reproductivehealth,genderequalityandpopulation&development.GenderequalitycutsacrossalltheoutcomesandoutputsofthecountrystrategyofUNFPAinadditiontoitbeingaspecificfocusedarea.Likewiseforthenationallevelinterventions,UNFPAhasselectedfivedistrictsforfocusedinterventionsinSriLanka.Thekeyc

3、riteriaforselectionofthesefivedistrictswasthefactthatreproductivehealth(RH)indicatorsofthesedistrictswerepoorerthanthenationalaverages,especiallyintermsofmorbidityandmortalityrates(MMR)andcontraceptiveprevalencerate(CPR).Thisinvestigationcoversthreedistrictsoftheselectedfive.ThethreedistrictsareNuw

4、araEliya,BatticaloaandVavuniya.NuwaraEliyabeingaworstaffectedintermsofpovertyisselectedasadistrictintheplantationarea.BatticaloaisselectedformtheEasternprovinceasadistrictdistinctlyaffectedbytheprolongedconflictinthecountrywithahighrateofpoverty,homedeliveryandteenagepregnanciesascomparedtootherdis

5、trictsofSriLanka.VavuniyaisselectedfromtheNorthasadistrictwithhighestnumberofinternallydisplacedpersons(hereafterIDPs),highriskforpregnantmothersandahighincidenceofteenagedpregnancies.VavuniyaisalsoconsideredahubforservicedeliveryformanypartsofNortherndistrict.Theconsultationsandinvestigationintoth

6、eincidenceofGBVandtheotherareasofinterventionswasdonethroughasamplesurveywiththecivilsocietyactorsandorganizationsworkinginthethreedistricts.ByandlargethissurveyisfocusedonorganizationalresponsetotheissuesofGBV.InVavuniyaasampleof11organizationswhileinNuwaraEliya13organisationsand12werechoseninBatt
