1、Introduction1.1AimoftheStudyItisalonghistorysincelanguageandculturehavebeenlinkedtoeachotherinresearch.Todiscusstranslationbyproceedingfromtherelationshipbetweenlanguageandcultureisanewtopicaswellasarichfieldforresearch.Widelyrecognizedasthecrystallizationoflanguage,idiomshaveal
2、sobecomethehottopicoftheacademiccirclewiththeiruniversalappeal.Ithasbeennoticedthat,untilnow,muchofthepreviousworkonthestudyofEnglishandChineseidiomshasoftenbeenconcernedwithdefinitions,classifications,features,origins,andbasictranslationmethod,etc.Theseaspectshavebeenmadeincisi
3、vestudiesbyresearchers;however,asthegemofanation'sculture,idiomsshouldhavemoreconnectionwithculture.Itisthecolorfulculturalinformation,nationalflavorandthecharmofalienculturethatshouldbedeeplystudiedandcarriedforwardrelyingonthestrengthoftranslation.AsJuriLotmanmaintains,“nosing
4、lelanguageisnotrootedinaspecificculture;neitherdoesacultureisnotcenteredbythestructureofsomecertainnaturallanguage.”(JuriLotman,1987)Therefore,onecangetamoresatisfyingresultbyconsideringculturalfactorsinthesametimeasstudyingthesourcelanguageandrenderingittothetargetedlanguage.Fr
5、omthisperspective,translatorsshouldnotonlytranslatetheimageandrhetoricdevicesofSLbutalsoitsnationalandlocalflavorandpaymuchattentiontoitsculturaldivergences.Inviewoftheinadequacyandincomprehensiveresearchdoneintheidiomtranslationfieldandthegreatsignificanceoftheinfluenceofcultur
6、alfactorsonidiomtranslation,thepresentpaperwillmakeacomprehensivestudyofEnglishandChineseidiomsintheculturalperspective.Inthepresentpaper,theauthorwillelaboratetherelationshipbetweenlanguage,cultureandidiomtranslation,followedbyacomprehensiveanalysisofinfluenceofdiversifiedcultu
