3、43adultresidentsexposedtoseismichazardparticipatedinaquestionnairestudy.WithrespecttofourtypesofinformationwhicharegeneratedbyKeywords:informationsourcesandvalence,participantswereinstructedtorecallonetypeoftheinformationtheyWenchunearthquakeobtainedrespectivelyandratetherecal
4、ledinformationintermsofitscredibility.Afterthat,theywereInformationcredibilityaskedtoreporttheirseismicriskperceptionandallsocio-demographicdatawerealsocollected.InformationvalenceRegressionanalysessuggestedthatinformationcredibilitysignificantlyinfluencedriskperception.Informat
5、ionsourceFurthermore,thecredibilityofword-of-mouthandnegativeinformationwerepositivelyassociatedwithRiskperceptionriskperception.Meanwhile,riskperceptionwasalsoaffectedgreatlybythecredibilityofnegativepublicinformationbutnotpositiveword-of-mouthinformation.Itwasclearthatbothin
6、formationsourceandvalencemoderatedtheprocessandthelatterexertedastrongerinfluenceonit.Theresultswereinterpretedinrelationtotheelaborationlikelihoodmodel,accessibilityediagnosticitymodel,andothercognitivetheories.Thefindingswerediscussedintermsoftheirgeneralimplicationsfortheimpr
