4、ovincebyfar,whichcausedseriousdamagetohighandstableyieldofjaponicarice．Inordertorevealthemechanismofrapidoccurrenceofweedyriceandcontrolitinriceproduction,thespreadingpatternandtheindicaＧjaponicageographicaldistributionwereanalized．Wecollected２０５accessionsof５８weedyricepopulationsfrom５８sites
5、at１３citiesinJiangsuProvince．ThesampleshavebeenplantedinthepaddyfieldofJiangpuFarmofNanjingAgriculturalUniversity．３８morphologicaltraitsand６Cheng′sindextraitsweremeasured．EuclideanDistanceclusteringanalysisshowedthatweedyricefollowedamutualＧspreadpatternin１３cities．TheindicaＧjaponicageographic
6、aldistributionofweedyriceshowedthatindicaandindicaＧclinoustypeweedyricedistributedin５８sites,accountingfor５４．１５％and４２．４０％ofthetotalsamples,respectively．JaponicaandjaponicaＧclinoustypeweedyricedistributedinonly６sites,accountingfor０．４８％and２．９３％ofthetotalsamples,respectively．Inaddition,thegeogr
7、aphicaldistributioncomparisonbetweentheindicaＧjaponicaweedyriceandindicaＧjaponicalandracesshowednocorrespondingrelationship．ThevastmajorityofweedyriceinJiangsuProvinceisindicatypeandjaponicatypeweedyricetakesonlyasmallproportion,whichconformstonaturalgen
