4、leftholdingthebaby.Ihadnoideawhattodowithmybabyson.Ablindgirlfromnextdoorpickedhimupandsaidthatshewouldlookafterhim.Withintwohours,theChildren’sAidSocietycameandtookhimaway.Theyputhimupforadoption.Vickywasinthehospitalfortwomonths.WhenVickycameoutofthehospit

5、al,shetoldmeofherhorrendouspast,somethingshehadneverspokenofbefore.IknewshewasmarriedbeforebutthatwasallIknew.Shetoldmeaboutherhusband.Hewasabankrobber,analcoholic,andextremelyabusive.(Vickywasabout15yearsolderthanIwas).Shehadpreviouslygivenbirthtofivekids,w

6、hichIneverknewabout.Herhusbandusedtotortureherandthekids.Hewouldhangthekidsbytheirfeetfromtheraftersofabarnandbeatthemwithabaseballbat.Threeofherkidswentinsaneandwerepermanentlyinstitutionalized.HeusedtobeatVickyuntilshewasunconscious.Noonewaseverallowedtose

7、eadoctor.Whenhewentondrinkingbingesforaweekortwoatatimehelockedeveryoneinthehouse.Sometimestheyranoutoffood.HewasjailedseveraltimesandVickyandthekidswereoftenstarving.FinallyheranawayandoneofVicky’ssistershadhercommittedtothementalhospitalinToronto.Hereshewa
