2、ity’sintegratedapproachtoreduceCO2emissionsfromlight-dutyvehicles(TextwithEEArelevance)THEEUROPEANPARLIAMENTANDTHECOUNCILOFTHEEUROchange.Inthisrespect,theCommissionproposedinJanuPEANUNION,ary2007that,inthecontextofinternationalnegotiations,theEuropeanUnionshouldpursuetheobjective

3、ofa30 %HavingregardtotheTreatyestablishingtheEuropeanCommureductionofgreenhousegasemissionsbydevelopedcounnity,andinparticularArticle 175(1)thereof,triesby2020(comparedto 1990levels)andthattheUnionitselfshouldmakeafirmindependentcommitmenttoachieveatleasta20 %reductionofgreenhous

4、egasHavingregardtotheproposalfromtheCommission,emissionsby2020(comparedto 1990levels),irrespectiveofreductionsachievedbyotherdevelopedcountries.ThisHavingregardtotheopinionoftheEuropeanEconomicandobjectivewasendorsedbytheEuropeanParliamentandSocialCommittee(1),theCouncil.Aftercon

5、sultingtheCommitteeoftheRegions,(3)OneoftheimplicationsofthosecommitmentsisthatallActinginaccordancewiththeprocedurelaiddowninArticle 2512MemberStateswillneedtoreducesignificantlyemissionsoftheTreaty(),frompassengercars.PoliciesandmeasuresshouldbeimplementedatMemberStateandCommun

6、itylevelacrossWhereas:allsectorsoftheCommunityeconomy,andnotonlywithintheindustryandenergysectors,inordertogeneratethesubstantialreductionsneeded.Roadtransportisthe(1)TheobjectiveofthisRegulationistosetemissionperforsecondlargestgreenhouse-gasemittingsectorintheUnionmancestandard
