4、expressionsinthesurroundingsentencesandparagraphs.cohesionisasurfacerelationanditconnectstogethertheactualwordsandexpressionsthatwecanseeorhear.hallidayandhasanidentifyfivemaincohesivedevicesinenglish:reference,substitution,ellipsis,conjunction,andlexicalcohesion.iii.hypothesisasiswell-known,c
