3、yofalanguage.ascorpuscollects“natural”linguisticdata---languagethatpeopleusedincommunication,itisaperformance-basedapproach(yang,2002:9).comparedwiththetraditionalapproachestolinguistics,i.e.introspectionandelicitation,thecorpus-basedapproachisconvenientforitcanbeaccessedusingvarioustypeso

4、fsoftwarepackages,thuscorpus-basedapproachtolinguisticinvestigationhasshownitspowerfuladvantagestobetterservelinguisticpurposes.sinclairhasclaimedthatthesystematicstudyoflargecorporayieldsinformationaboutlanguageusethatisnotavailabletounaidedintuition:…thecontrastexposedbetweentheimpressio
