3、ivityofthebovinecoronavirusestoindicesof2.5to~>5.Nineteenof40DID-negative,heat-inac-tivatedserahadneutralizingindicesof1to3.0.HumanserumwithneutralizingandDIDantibodiesproducedjuxtanuclearandcytoplasmicfluorescenceidenti-caltothatofbovineimmuneserumincellsinfectedwiththebovinecorona-virus.Antibodi

4、esinhumanandbovineserainteractedwiththepeplomeresofthebovinecoronavirus,mattingandbridgingthem,whenpresentinexcess,andfacilitatedformationoflargeviralaggregateswhenpresentinequivalentconcen-trations.Complementaddedtothevirus-antibodycomplexesdidnotalterspecificallythemorphologyofsingle,antibody-la

5、denviralparticlesorviralparticlesinaggregates.Evidenceofthetransmissionofcoronavirusfromex-perimentallyinoculatedcalvestoman,withensuinggastroenteritis,wasfoundbyelectronmicroscopictracingofthecoronavirusanditsvirus-antibodycom-plexes.IntroductionCoronavirusesareanimportantcauseofenteritisanddiarr

6、heainpiglets,calves,rodents,andotheranimalspecies[11].Intestinalinfectionsofmanwithcornaviruseswerede-monstratedrepeatedlybyelectronmicroscopy,butthesignificanceofthisinfectionasacauseofhumanentericdiseaseremainsunsettled[1,2,16].SharpeandMebus[17]detectedantibodiesneutralizinginfectivityofanenter
