3、ymakeanysensetotalkof“the”culturalturn?Recentdebateshavebeencharacterisedbyaccusationsandcounter-accusationsofmisrepresentationthatmightwellsuggestthatthefieldisnoteasilyreducedtosimplepositions(e.g.,PriceandLewis,1993;Cos-grove,1993,1996;Duncan,1993;
4、Jackson,1993,1996;Mitchell,1995;Dun-canandDuncan,1996).Increasingly,itseems,thereisatendencyamongthosecloselyassociatedwiththe“new”culturalgeographytoeschewtheuseofthephrase“culturalturn,”justatthemomentitbeginstotakeonacertainsoliditywithinthediscipl
5、ine.Idonotclaimtohaveacompletegraspontherangeofworktouchedbytheculturalturn,butneitherdoIthinkthatthecomplexityofthisworkdisablesanyandallattemptstosubjectit,whatever“it”is,tocriti-calscrutiny.Andtherearewaysofestablishingtherealdimensionsofthecultura
