4、tiquesaboutthemeritsofdifferentmethod•ologiesforhumangeography,andevenwhetheritcouldinthelongertermberegardedassociallyirresponsiblebecauseofthecomputersystemsitmayoneclayspawn;seethefuturisticdescriptionofPeopleControlSystemsinaBigBrotherandBigSisterWorld(Opcnshaw,1992).Iti
5、snotedthattherearetwoverystrongdrivingforcesbehindthedevelopmentofacomputationalgeographicparadigmandthatbotharcsociallyconstructed.First,thereisthebeliefthatitisnecessarytomodernizethequantitativegeographicanalysisandmodellingtoolsinordertocopewithnewneedsandnewexpectations
6、forappliedgcoprocessingandgeomodcllinginthebroadestsenseinarapidlychangingworld.Second,thereisanopportunityforgeographerstorespondtofundamentaldevelopmentsinkeyinformationtechnologies(ITs)thatimpactontheirtraditionalsubjectdomainsandwhicharecreatingnewtoolsandnewareasforstud
