1、HarbinInstituteofTechnology(HIT)wasfoundedin1920.Fromitsbeginning,HIThasreceivedpreferentialsupportfromthecentralgovernment.In1954,theMinistryofHigherEducationdesignated,forthefirsttime,sixnationalkeyuniversities.HITwastheonlyoneofthesixoutsideofBeijing.In1984,
2、HITagainfounditswayontothelistof15nationalkeyuniversitiestoreceivespecialsupport.In1996,HITwasamongthefirstgroupofuniversitiestobeincludedinProject211.Thisprojecttargets100institutionsofhighereducationinChinatoreceivepreferentialsupportfordevelopmentinordertobe
3、comeworld-classuniversitiesinthe21stcentury.In1999,HITwaslistedasoneofthetopninekeyuniversitiesinChina.ThisdistinctionprovidedHITwiththeopportunitytodevelopintoahighly-competitivefirst-rateuniversitywiththeassistanceoftheMinistryofEducationandtheHeilongjiangPro
4、vincialGovernment.After87years,HIThasdevelopedintoalargenationallyrenownedmulti-disciplinaryuniversitywithscience,engineeringandresearchasitscore.WehaveestablishedourownuniqueprogramsrelatedtothefieldofastronauticsthatareunparalledanywhereinChina.Wehavebroadene
5、dourestablisheddisciplinaryprogramsbyutilizingacross-disciplinarycurriculumandassuchhaveformedacomparativelyfulldisciplinarysystemthatconsistsofkey,emergingandsupportingprograms.HITnowhas21schools/departments,including73undergraduateprograms,147masters'programs
6、,81doctoralprograms,18post-doctoralresearchstations,18nationalkeydisciplines,and32national&provincial(ministerial)keylabs.Theuniversityemploys2,944full-timeteachers,amongwhich884areprofessors,1,102areassociateprofessors,including22academiciansoftheChineseAcadem
7、yofSciencesandtheChineseAcademyofEngineering.Atpresent,thereare42,695full-timestudentsincluding25,035undergraduates,11,794masterdegreecandidatesand4,387doctorialdegreecandidates.WealsoaddedtheShenzhenGraduateSchoolandWeihaiCampustothemaincampusinHarbin(includin
