3、atmentoperations.Inthisarticle,transformationsofparticles,metalelementsandNOMinapilot-scalewatertreatmentplantwereinvestigatedbylaserlightgranularitysystem,particlecounter,glass-fibermembranefiltration,inductivelycoupledplasma-opticalemissionspectroscopy,ultrafiltrationandresinabsorbentsf
4、ractionation.Theresultsshowedthatparticles,NOMandtrihalomethaneformationprecursorswereremovedsynergisticallybysequentialtreatmentofdierentprocesses.Pre-ozonationmarkedlychangedthepolarityandmolecularweightofNOM,anditcouldbeconducivetothefollowingcoagulationprocessthroughdestabilizingpa
5、rticlesandcolloids;mid-ozonationenhancedthesubsequentgranularactivatedcarbon(GAC)filtrationprocessbydecreasingmolecularweightoforganicmatters.Coagulation-flotationandGACweremoreecientinremovingfixedsuspendedsolidsandlargerparticles;whilesand-filtrationwasmoreecientinremovingvolatilesuspe
6、ndedsolidsandsmallerparticles.FlotationperformedbetterthansedimentationintermsofparticleandNOMremoval.Thetypeofcoagulantcouldgreatlyaecttheperformanceofcoagulation-flotation.Pre-hydrolyzedcompositecoagulant(HPAC)wassuperiortoFeCl3concerningtheremovalsofhydrophobicdissolvedorganiccarbona
