3、author.Email:mrchaichi@cpp.eduAbstract.Non-ionicsurfactantshavebeenwellresearchedasatooltoamelioratewaterrepellentconditions.However,fewstudieshaveevaluatedtherisksandbenefitsofnon-ionicsurfactantapplicationsinwettablesoil.Theobjectiveofthisstudywastoevaluatetheeffectsofasurfact

4、antinmodifyingthewettingpatterninsoilsofdifferenttexturesandorganicmattercontents.Theexperimentaltreatmentsconsistedof(1)fourdifferentsoiltexturesincludingsandy,sandyloam,sandyclayloamandsiltloam,(2)fourdifferentorganicmattercontents(0.2,0.7,1.2and1.7%byweight),and(3)irrigation

5、watertreatmentswithorwithoutsurfactant(IrrigAidGold).TheexperimentwascarriedoutinPlexiglasboxeswithonedripemitterunderthesoilsurface.Theresultsdemonstratedthesuperiorityofsurfactantapplicationonincreasingwaterdistributioninthesoilprofileforallsoiltexturalclasses.Siltloamtextureh

6、adthehighestsidewettedareaandwettingdepth45minaftertheinitiationofirrigation.Upwardcapillarywatermovementandtopwettedareasignificantlydecreasedinthesurfactanttreatmentacrossallsoiltexturesexceptinsandysoil.Asorganicmattercontentincreased,topwettedareadecreased.Thesefindingsclarifi
