3、SaskatchewanS4S7J7,CanadaABSTRACT:Aseriesofceria-zirconiamixedoxidesupportswithnominalcomposition“Ce0.6Zr0.4O2”weresynthesizedbytwodif-ferentroutes,namely,asurfactant-assistedrouteandacoprecipitationroute.Amongthesupportsobtainedbythesurfactant-assistedroute,diff
4、erentsurfactant/metalmolarratios(namely,1.25,0.8,and0.5)wereemployedtostudytheinfluenceofthesurfactantamountonthecatalystperformance.Anominal5wt%Niwasimpregnatedonthesupportsbyawetimpregnationmethod.ThesecatalystswereevaluatedforCO2reformingofCH4inboththepresence
5、andabsenceofsteam.Thetextural,structural,andphysicochemicalcharacteristicsofthecatalystswerethoroughlyinvestigatedwiththehelpofvariousbulkandsurfacecharacteriza-tiontechniques.Theactivityresultsindicatethesuperiornatureofthecatalystsobtainedbythesurfactant-assis
6、tedrouteovertheoneobtainedbycoprecipitation.Also,withinthelimitsofthesurfactantratiosused,theamountofsurfactantemployedduringthecourseofsupportpreparationseemstoaffecttheactivity,withcatalystspreparedwiththehighersurfactant/metalmolarratioexhibitingbetteractivity
7、andenhancedstability.Structure-activityrelationships(SARs)wereformulatedforsomeofthechar-acteristicsinordertoexplainthemarkeddifferenceinactivitybetweenthecatalystsobtainedbythesurfactant-assistedandcoprecipitationmethodsandbetweenthecatalystspreparedbythesurfact
8、ant-assistedroutebutwithdifferentsurfactant/metalmolarratios.TheSARshelpedtoidentifythathighoxygenstoragecapacity,highsurfacearea,highreducibility,highernickelsurfacea
