3、redclover(TrifoliumpratenseL.)greenmanureonthelevelsofS-alk(en)yl-L-cysteinesulfoxides(ACSO)andL-ascorbicacidinleek.Twoofthe12treatmentswerecontrols,onewithoutfertilizersandtheotherwithacommercialmineralfertilizer.Theremaining10treatmentsweredifferentformsandquantitiesofgreenmanurepre
4、paredfromredclover.Onetreatmentconsistedofdirectincorporationintosoiloftheprecedingredclovercrop.Theother9treatmentscomprisedthreetypesofredclovergreenmanure[anaerobicallydigestedredcloverbiomass(biodigestate),compostedredclover,freshredcloverasmulch]appliedatthreedifferentdoses.Yield
5、wasincreasedonlyatthehighestdoseofcompostandthehighestdoseofmulch.Highdosesofgreenmanuredecreaseddrymattercontentinleek.Thefertilizertreatmentsincreasedthenitrogenuptakeandthenitrogencontentofleek.Sulfuruptakeandsulfurlevelswereincreasedonlybythemineralfertilizerandbythecompost.Nonfer
6、tilizedleekcontained20.4(5.8g/kgofdryweight(dw)ACSOsasdeterminedbyLC-MS/MSand1.57(0.01g/kgofdwascorbicacidasdeterminedbyHPLC.TheACSOswereto92–96%isoalliin,therestbeingmethiin.Alliinwasidentifiedinonly1of72samples.TheACSOlevelwasincreasedby37%bythemineralfertilizer.Whereasdirectincorpor
7、ationofredclover,mulch,andredcloverbiodigestatehadnoinfluenceontheACSOlevel,thehighestdoseofcompostincreasedtheACSOlevelby55%.Ascorbicacidlevelswerenotinfluencedbythemineraltreatment.Greenmanuresincreasedascorbicacidlevelsonlyonadryweightbasis.Ahighcorrelationbetweenthecontentofsulfuran
