3、wledgebutareinterestedinforeigncultures.Therefore,thesubtitlebecomesthekeyforthemtoenjoythefilmandtogetaccesstotheforeigncultures.WiththeeverdeepeningofChina’sreformandopening-uppolicy,moreandmoreChinesefilmsgoabroadtorevealthebeautifulscenery,longhistoryanduniquecultureofChina.SinceChinese-Englis
4、htranslationoffilmsubtitleservesasabridgebetweenChinaandtherestoftheworld,correctsubtitletranslationcontributestoeffectivecommunication.InordertohelptheaudiencesfromanotherculturetohaveachancetobetterunderstandtheChinesefilms,subtitleisputintowideuse.Awell-translatedsubtitlecannotonlyattractmoreau
5、diences,highlightandenhancethespiritandidentityofChineseculture,butalsopromoteChinesestatusontheinternationalarena.Asabranchofliterarytranslation,subtitletranslationdiffersgreatlyfromtranslationofwrittentexts.Thereislong-standingprejudiceonthistypeoftranslation.However,deeperconsiderationandmarket
6、demandmaywellshowthatthisisill-wounded.Anditissuggestedthatviewingsubtitledmaterialismuchmoredemandingandhasmorereceptorsthanreadingliterarytextsintranslation.Tosomeextent,subtitlehasbecomeapartofcinemawiththedevelopmentofreadily-available,cost-effectiveservicestoreachinternationalaudiencesandmark
