3、illbecomewidelyadoptedwithiitheinternationalcommunityasasoundbasisforthecriticalassessmentofthermodynamicdata,thereby,perhaps,limitingunnecessaryduplicationofeffort.Thedataforeachphaseofeachelementconsideredarepresentedasexpressionsshowing,asafunctionoftemperature,thevariationof(a

4、)G-H,,,theGibbsenergyrelativetotheenthalpyoftheStandardElementReferenceiethereferencephasefortheelementat298.15Kand(b)thedifferenceinGibbsenergybetweeneachphaseandthisreferencephase(ielatticestability).ThevariationoftheheatcapacityofthevariousphasesandtheGibbsenergydifferencebetwe

5、enphasesarealsoshowngraphically.Forcertainelementsthethermodynamicdatahavebeenassessedasafunctionofpressureaswellastemperature.Whereappropriateatemperature-pressurephasediagramisalsoshown.ThroughoutthispaperthethermodynamicdataareexpressedintermsofJmol..Thetemperaturesoftransition
