5、TRACTLearnerautonomycanbedefinedaslearners’capacitytotakeresponsibilityfortheirownlearning.Itisanecessityintoday’sworldinwhichglobalizationandthedevelopmentoftechnologyhaveledtoafastchangeofvastamountsofinformation.Asformalteachingsimplycannotkeepupwiththecontinuouschanges,learnersneedtob

6、eabletoprocessthatinformationautonomously.Interpretingisaprofessionwhichrequiresitspractitionerstokeeplearningthroughouttheirprofessionallives.Forthis,learnerautonomyisofcriticalimportanceforinterpretingstudents.However,nopreviousstudieshaveassessedMIstudents’autonomylevelfromitsmulti-dim

7、ensionalaspects.Thus,thispapersuggestsasurveyusingaquestionnaireasaninstrumenttoassesstowhichextentMIstudentsofthreegradesinXi’anInternationalStudiesUniversity(XISU)possessthecapacityassociatedwithlearnerautonomy.ItprobesintothreeresearchquestionsconcerningMIstudent
