3、nopowdersareproducedinalowtemperature,non-equilibriumplasmajet(APPJ),whichproducesaglowdischargeatatmosphericpressure,forthefirsttime.AmorphouscarbonandironnanoparticleshavebeensynthesizedfromAcetyleneandFerrocene/H2,respectively.Highgenerationratesareachievedfromtheglowdischargeatnear-
4、ambienttemperature(40–80°C),andrisewithincreasingplasmapowerandprecursorconcentration.Fairlynarrowparticlesizedistributionsaremeasuredwithadifferentialmobilityanalyzer(DMA)andanaerosolelectrometer(AEM),andarecenteredaround30–35nmforcarbonand20–25nmforiron.Particlecharacteristicsanalyzed
5、byTEMandEDXrevealamorphouscarbonandironnanoparticles.TheFeparticlesarehighlyoxidizedonexposuretoair.Comparisonofthemobilityandmicrographdiametersrevealthattheparticlesarehardlyagglomeratedorunagglomerated.Thisisascribedtotheunipolarchargeonparticlesintheplasma.Thegeneratedparticledistr
6、ibutionsareexaminedasafunctionofprocessparameters.Introductionthinfilms(Sudaetal.,2002).Alargebodyofinformationexistsaboutarcplasmasandnano-Carbonnanoparticles,ofvariousforms,haveaparticleformation(mostlymetals);butthesepro-myriadofindustrialapplications.Carbonblack,cessesaregenerallyop
7、eratedatveryhighindispensabletotherubber,paint,andchemicaltemperaturesand/orlowpressuressuchastheindustries,isalsocommonlyusedininks(Pocsikhydrogen-plasma-metalreaction(HPMR)(Sakkaetal.,2002).Ironnanoparticleshavemanyuses,etal.,2002;Lietal.,2003;Shaoetal.,2003)fromenhancingcatalysisw
