2、mdictionaryortextbook.Teachersmayelicitmeaningforstudentsbeforetheyofferthemeaning.Whiletherearestillotherwaystopresentnewwords,suchasdrawingpictures,diagramsandmaps,toshowmeaningorconnectionofmeaningstogetherwiththewords’form;usingrealobieetstoshowmeanings,mimeOracttoshowmeaning.Thewordwithpi

3、ctureispopularatsecondlanguagelearningclassroom,especiallyintheinitialstageoflanguagelearning.Thesetwomethodsareoftenusedbytheteachers.Also,studentsareencouragedtomakesentencewithtargetwordstoenhancetheirunderstandingofthetargetwords.Sentencegeneratedbythelearnersisonekindofmethodtofacilitatev

4、ocabularylearning.Yetinrealsecondlanguageacquisitionactivities,learnersmaybereluctanttomakesentenceswiththewordsgiven,jnstlikethatintheirfirstlanguageacquisition.Nowadays,Krashen’sInputTheoriesareprevailingamongthesecondhngueacquisitionareas.Theimpactofthistheoryon1-2acquisitionisgreat.Krashen

5、(1985)arguesthatthe“comprehensibleinput”issufficienttothelanguageacquisition.Withoutinput,therewouldbenoacquisition.Here,Krashenclassifiedthistermwiththeadditionoftheword“comprehensible”.Krashen’Stheoryledtotheincidentalvocabularyacquisitiontheory,whichcompoundstherelationbetweencomprehensible

6、inputandvocabularyacquisition.Someresearcherschallengedthistheory,suchasSwain(1985),proposingtheOutputHypothesisTheory.Duringherinvestigation,Swainfoundthatinthesecondlanguageacquisition,theinputisimportant,butitisnotenoughifthereisonlycomprehensibleinput.Meanwhile,theoutputisalsoimportant.Out
