2、evaluation.Ratherthanonlycomparingatthelevelofwords,theissuehereisconceptualresemblance.Thebasisisaknowledgebasede¯ningmajorconceptsofthedomainandmayincludetaxonomicandontologicaldomainknowledge.Thechallengeforsupportofqueriesinthiscontextisanevaluationprinciplethatontheonehandrespe
3、ctstheformationrulesforconceptsintheconceptlanguageandontheotherissu±cientlye±cienttocandidateasare-alisticprincipleforqueryevaluation.Wepresentanddiscussprincipleswheree±ciencyisobtainedbyreducingthematchingproblem-whichbasicallyisamatterofconceptualreasoning-tonumericalsimilarityc
4、omputation.1IntroductionThegoalforconcept-basedquerying,intextretrievalsystems,istoincludesemantics,lookingforimprovementsthatcanenhancethesystemsabilitytogenerateidealanswers.Inthiscontext,oneofthemajorproblemsistodeterminethesimilaritybetweenthesemanticelements.Itisnolongeronlysim
5、plematchofkeywordsinthetextobjects,butalsothemeaningofthem,wehavetotakeintoconsiderationwhenwecalculatethesimilaritybetweenqueriesandobjectsinourdatabase.Thefoundationofthispaperisourpreviouswork[1]andoura±liationtotheinterdisciplinaryresearchprojectOntoQuery1(Ontology-basedQuerying
6、)[3,4].Weassumethattextobjectsaredescribedbycompoundconceptsinade-scriptionlanguageandthatqueriesareexpressedinthelanguageorcanbetransformedintothis,andthatthesedescriptionsrefertoaknowledgebaseclarifyingthedomainofthedatabase.Theenvironmentforthistypeofquery-ingmaybeasystemthatauto
