3、onofinternalmedicine,theTreatiseonColdDamageDisordersandotherancienttexts,aswellasmodernTCMworkofthelasttenyears.Theoriginanddevelopmentofpain,itscauseandpathogenesisaresynthesizedtoformasignificantandcentralcontributiontothereductionofpaininclinicalpractice.2.Clinicalinvestigation:an

4、umberofoutpatientcasestudiesfromTaiwanTCMpracticearepresented,analyzedanddiscussed.Results:1.Theoreticalstudy:FromanalysisoftheEmperor’scanonofinternalmedicine,theTreatiseonColdDamageDisordersandotherancienttexts,aswellasmodernTCMworkofthelasttenyears,demonstratedthatpaincanbecategori

5、zedas“butongzetong”(blockedtissuesleadtopain)and“burongzetong”(tissueleadsthepainweakly).Causescanbesummarizedaspertaininginternallytothe7emotionalstates(qixing),andexternallytothe6excesses(liuyin).Effectscanalsobeascribedtopoornutritionandtiredness.Clinicalevidenceandspecimen-basedst

6、udyenableddiscussiononthesignificanceandmanagementofpain.2.Clinicalinvestigation:inthe173casesinvestigated,femalesweremorelikelytosufferpainthanmen.Diseaseonsettendedtotakeplacebetweentheagesof31and60years.Littleseasonalvariationwasobserved.Thehadandneckwerethemostfrequentlyobservedpa

7、insites.Tirednessandsuddenchangesoftemperaturetendedtoexacerbatesymptoms.166cases(thatis,51.56%ofthetotal)wereascribedtothe“burongzetong”category,whileblockedmeridians(“butongzetong”)wereresponsiblefor139cases(43.16%),thatis,bothtypesofblockageapplied.Theaggregateforallthreetypesofblo
