5、nsionabilitytestingandillnesstreatmentetc.Studyingmetaphorinthelanguagelearningandteachingisthemajorconcernofthispaper.ItisgenerallyrecognizedthatthepublicationofCameron’Low’sResearchingandApplyingMetaphorin1999leadsmetaphorstudyintothefieldofappliedlinguistics.So,“eventhestu

6、dyofmetaphorhasexplodedinthelastdecades,littleoftheimpactofthatexplosionhassofarreachedAppliedLinguistics”(CameronLynne&GLow.1999:77).RichardBailey,alsosupportstheview“conceptualmetaphor…hasmadelittleimpactinlanguagepedagogy”(BaileyRichard2003:59).Inspiteofthefactthattheworks

7、ofapplyingmetaphorintolanguageteachingincludingvocabularyteachingarefew,manyscholarshavecontributedtotheissueLow(1988)discussesthewideuseandcentralstatusofmetaphor,andanalyzesthatlearnersneedtodevelopmetaphoriccompetence:awarenessofmetaphor,andmethodstocomprehendandcreatemeta
