6、hasbeenextendedtoalargerscopeagainandagain,especiallyintherecent20ormoreyears.Fromthetheoryofcognitivescience,wecanknowthat“Theessenceofmetaphorisunderstandingandexperiencingonekindofthingintermsofanother”.(Lakoff,G.andJohnson,M.,MetaphorsWeLiveBy)Definedinthisway,me

7、taphorisacomplexphenomenonoflanguageandthinking.Thatistosay,linguisticmetaphorandconceptualmetaphorarecloselyconnectedtoeachother,andtheformeristheinstantiationofthelatter,whereasthelatterissuper-ordinatecategory.AsTheOxfordEnglishDictionarydefines,metaphoris“thefigu
