3、to“fleshout”thestructureortoexemplifypartsofthesoundsystem.However,withoutlexiconthemajormeaning-caringelementinlanguageismissing.Therefore,theacquisitionofvocabularyisanintegralpartofEnglishteaching.Ontheotherhand,thereareteacherswhohavetendedtooveremphasizethelearningofwordsinthelengthyvoca

4、bularylists.TheoldEnglishtextbook(JUNIORENGLISHFORCHINA,People’sPublisherofChina,1990)bearssilentwitnesstosuchanapproach.Thesolutionhereistoseekscientificmethodsofvocabularyteaching.Studentsshouldbeexposedtothevocabularyneededtoexpresstheideastheywanttocommunicate.Thevocabularyitemsshouldnotb
