2、mmercialpublisherstotakeaction.Butatwhatcosttohighereducation?Justasthecablemonopoliesarebeginningtolosegroundtootherdeliverysystemsofbroadcastcontent,sotooaretextbookcompanieslosinggroundtootherformsofdelivery.Mostcommerciallydevelopede-textbooksarelittlemorethanenhancedprinteditio
3、nsandhavelimitedaccessandrestrictionsonprintinganddownloadingthecontent.Open-accesstextssolvemanyoftheseproblems,but,asmanynowrealize,‘open’doesnotequal‘nocost.’Thisarticlewillexploresomeoftheforcesthataredrivingtheopen-accessphenomenon,anddescribesthejointeffortbytheUniversityPress
