2、elaboratelystructureddigitaltext-books,potentiallyenrichedbyextensivenon-textualdata.Theframeworkwillcompriseofasoftwaretoolboxcontainingacollaborativeauthoringplatform,manuscriptworkflowsystem,toolsforeditorialwork,presentationplatform,updatingwork-flow,i
3、nterfacesfordisseminationandlong-termpreservation.Inadditiontothesoftwaretoolboxitself,guidelinesandstandardsforallaspectsofdigitaltextbookpublishing,includingpeerreview,metadataandeditorialprocedures,legalissuesaswellasabusinessmodelwillbedeveloped,resu
4、ltinginabestpracticeguidetodigitaltextbookpublishing.Thesoftwareandworkflowswillnotbedevelopedfromscratch,butbuilduponexistingopen-sourcesoftware,usingtheexampleofascientifictextbookofhandsurgeryasitsfirstusecase.Thispaperintroducestheprojectandgivesaprospe
